Which Marketing Source For Your Home Based Business?
So, you've started a home based business, and now you're ready to market your business and start making sales. What is the best marketing source for your home based business? In this article, I'll go over several marketing methods and sources you can use, and share the pro's and con's of each method.
Source #1: Buying Leads
This method seems to be one of the most popular home based businesses marketing sources, especially for MLM and network marketing businesses. The advantages to buying leads are that they are easy to get, you can get them right away, and they come in various prices and quantities to fit any marketing budget. The downside to buying leads is that they are generally not high quality, targeted leads and you may find it hard to turn a profit.
Source #2: PPC Search Engines
Done correctly, this is an excellent marketing source for your home business. It allows you to drive highly targeted visitors to your website, and gives you quite a bit of control over the marketing campaign. The only real downside is that if the campaign is not run correctly, it can get expensive and not profitable. My advice is to start small, learn as you go, and track your results so you can be continually improving your PPC campaign.
Source #3: Search Engine Optimization
You've probably heard of search engine optimization, or SEO. It's the term used for techniques to help you get free rankings on Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines for keywords related to your site. The advantages of using SEO to market your home based business are high quality, targeted traffic, at low cost. The downside is that it takes a fair amount of time and some expertise to do well with SEO. If you pay someone to do it for you, it could be very expensive. I would suggest using SEO as a longer term marketing source for your business.
Source #4: Email Marketing
Email marketing can be tricky as an initial contact method. As a follow up method, though, it's wonderful. Here is what I mean – try to get visitors to your site and/or customers to subscribe to your newsletter. You'll then be able to stay in touch with them via your email newsletter, and increase your sales! Once you have some marketing experience under your belt, you may want to try using email as the first contact – such as with co-registration or ezine ads.
Source #5: Offline Advertising
I don't want you to think that online marketing sources are the only ones that work for a home based business. Offline advertising works, too, though it may be tougher to use when you're first getting started. If you plan to use offline marketing methods, I highly recommend you get the assistance of someone who has done it successfully before.
In conclusion, I would strongly suggest that you use more than one home based business marketing source – use at least two. Track your results and continually work to improve your marketing campaign.
